How Pollet Water Group contributes to Green Hydrogen

7/12/2021

Green Hydrogen is a trending topic and crucial for reaching the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. Green H2 is produced by water electrolysis, using only power from renewable energy sources such as wind or solar energy.  Hydrogen becomes the alternative 'fuel' for shipping or long-haul trucking. It can also be transformed to electricity and heat. These utilisation of green hydrogen are also referred to as PtX (power-to-X). This will make a significant contribution as an action for climate and the decarbonisation of economies.

The water treatment unit is an important part of the electrolysis plant since electrolysers need pure water as a feedstock. Curious how we can support you? Discover how Pollet Water Group and Herco can assist you in the correct design of the unit. Watch the interview on the Aquatech 2021 show or download the Herco brochure below.

The importance of side stream filtration in closed loop systems

24/11/2021

Picture
Side stream filters are designed to collect all sorts of free-floating debris from within the water system. Deposition of these particulates can cause: heat transfer loss, under-deposit corrosion, absorption of chemical treatment, pump seal leaks and a bacterial habitat.

By installing a magnetic filter on a side stream, typically around the main booster
set, or across a pressure differential of the system, it ensures that if the filter becomes blocked through deposit collection, it does not reduce the water circulation around the system nor cause undue stress to the pumps with back pressure from the filter. A side stream filter unit is a crucial part of a comprehensive water management system.

Water treatment professionals should proactively recommend the installation of these units. Don’t wait until you need a side stream filter, by that point it will cost a lot more than the original installation cost. The use of a side stream filtration unit is often the reaction to poor water quality or inefficient heating/cooling. A better understanding of the benefits of filtration in “clean” water systems will allow the proactive installation of these units to protect water systems and extend their lifetime. Want to learn more about the importance of side stream filtration? Read all about it in this article by “Waterline”, the journal of the Water Management Society

KTW - UBA attestation for Cappers!

29/10/2021

Picture
We are very proud to announce that Cappers got KTW-UBA attestation, also better known as KTW-BWGL, for its domestic valves SCA 19 and Ino 20.  It received the attestation on the 29th of October 2021. Cappers (France), member of Pollet Water Group, is a manufacturing company for domestic and industrial automatic multiport valves, used for automatic water softeners and water filters.
KTW-BWGL is a new mandatory regulation on drinking water hygiene issued by the UBA (Umweltbundesamt) in Germany or the Ministry of Environment of Germany. Our attestation not only opens doors in Germany, but also in other North-European countries like Denmark, Sweden, Finland,... The certification body that executed the certification process was Kiwa (Netherlands and Germany).

A Visionary project by Eco-Vision towards 100% water recovery!

28/10/2021

Picture
Producing PCBs without using water is unthinkable. Industrial water is needed in the pre-treatment, demi water is needed after the critical process baths. Both processes produce wastewater containing high COD and metals. Eco-Vision, part of Pollet Water Group, developed an installation that reduces wastewater by 50% with the possibility to close the loop in a second phase for 100% water recovery.

The Total Capacity of the plant is 15 m³/hr physico-chemically treated, 15 m³/hr via demin-installation closed loop. The production rate is currently 16 hours/day which can be increased to 24 hours/day. This visionary project closes the entire wastewater loop by means of 4 water treatment phases. It prepares the printed circuit board manufacturer for the future and comes with a positive and direct impact on the environment. Watch our project movie below.
Change starts with a vision! #makewatercount

Collaboration with Haseeb on pharmaceutical pollution

5/10/2021

We are very excited to announce that in the framework of the European S+T+ARTS4Water project, artist Haseeb Ahmed has been selected for the “Pharmaceutical Pollution” residency. This highly collaborative residency is hosted by GLUON and LUCA School of Arts with the support of Pollet Water Group
Picture

“There is a poetry in the modern paradox that pharmaceuticals save lives but are too small to filter in conventional treatment plants, potentially harming the environment. This is especially true in Flanders, a leader in pharmaceuticals whose landscape is defined by extensive waterways. Over the course of my residency I will work with regional experts to create an artwork that brings together the scale of the body and landscape making this connection tangible for viewers and the process too will be made public.” Haseeb Ahmed

What is S+T+ARTS4Water?
S+T+ARTS is an initiative of the European Commission to foster alliances between science, technology, and the arts, in order to cultivate technological innovation centered on human needs and values. Bringing together art, technology and science, the pilot project STARTS4water aims to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our times: water management.

What is the goal of this residency?

This highly collaborative S+T+ARTS residency is bringing together diverse stakeholders with expertise in wastewater treatment, digital technology, health care, biodiversity, environmental engineering, environmental chemistry and aquatic ecology, working towards the design of new measures to reduce pollution and to encompass the entire life cycle of biodegradable “greener pharmaceuticals”.
Who is the artist?
Haseeb Ahmed is a research-based artist originally from the US, and now based in Brussels. He produces objects, site-specific installations, films, and writes. Often working collaboratively, Ahmed integrates methodologies from the hard sciences into his art production. Over the last 10 years Ahmed has structured his research-based artistic practice around fluid dynamics of wind and water.

Who supports this residency?
This residency is supported by Pollet Water Group, Pharma.be, Inopsys, Vlakwa, VITO, Surplace and Capture-UGhent. The results of the residency will be shown in Bozar – Centre for Fine Arts (Brussels), during the STARTS4Water exhibition in Fall 2022

Water Arena

29/9/2021

End of September we had another inspiring refreshing meeting of the Water Arena where PWG is a member.
One takeaway challenge is how we could encourage and increase the water citizenship, by which we mean the involvement of a consumer towards the water they use. For many people water starts to exist when we open the tap and stops when it is flushed through the sink. They don’t know where it comes from, where it goes to, how precious it is and how we need to value it.
Picture

There is a need for a consumer HABIT CHANGE.
This is an important challenge where PWG want to commit to.

The waterarena was inspired by the successful campaigns from the past of which we can learn something for the water challenge.
  • How the BOB-campaign in Belgium succeeded in 15 years time to create a generation that is very convinced that driving and drinking does not go together.
  • How the regulated smoking ban in bars and public domains succeeded in a couple of years to change the public perception of something normal to something which is not done.
  • How the measurements that ban our freedom this much where to be accepted cause it is about our health and the health of our loved ones, cause we are all involved and because science and knowledge are at the basis of the decisions made.
With thanks to our co-arenamembers!
