POLLET WATER GROUP OPENS OFFICE IN DUBAI WITH AQUALINE MENA

16/5/2022

Picture
Pollet Water Group strengthens its presence in the Middle East. Aqualine MENA, part of the group, is opening an office in Dubai, establishing a second office in the region after Jordan. The expansion in Dubai demonstrates the importance and growing market that PWG strongly believes in. AQUALINE Water Treatment  was established in 2013 to better support the Middle East regional market. A local anchoring is strongly part of Pollet Water Group's DNA. Amman in Jordan was then chosen to operate from. With the opening of an additional office for Aqualine MENA, PWG expands that accessibility and can also follow that market closer and more intensively.
AQUALINE MENA, like the other Pollet Water Group firms, is specialized in Water and Waste Water Treatment.  The focus at AQUALINE is mainly on the commercial and industrial market. With a wide range of high quality products and complete installations, the company offers both standard and custom designed solutions. AQUALINE can meanwhile present a strong track record of water and wastewater treatment installations. The company designs, builds and installs products and systems for water treatment. To do so, it can rely on a broad knowledge and a network thanks to the more than 28 water treatment companies and manufacturers, all part of Pollet Water Group.

WYCOMBE WATER IN THE Spotlight with NXT2 projects

9/5/2022

Wycombe Water, part of Pollet Water Group, is one of the UK’s premier suppliers of water treatment components and systems. In a case study published by Pentair, Managing Director, Steven Sweet explains why he sees the Pentair NXT2 advanced system network controller as an important part of Wycombe Water's customer offer.
Picture
"For our customers, a standard requirement is a guaranteed, uninterrupted supply of treated water. These days, for most of our larger installations, we specify duplex or multiplex systems for the additional capacity and the inbuilt redundancy they provide. Historically some systems have three or four tanks and valves, working together, for maximum productivity. The beauty of the NXT2 is that system capacity can now be easily expanded with more tanks, up to eight units, all synchronised and talking to each other." Read more

Pollet Water Group & Médecins Sans Frontières

8/4/2022

In 2018, MSF launched a pilot project to prevent waterborne diseases by rehabilitating and drilling wells in Zimbabwe. The results were very successful. Zimbabwe experienced extreme outbreaks of cholera and typhoid affecting 10,000 people. MSF created a long-term solution by rehabilitating 50 water wells and train participants to drill water holes. This approach resulted in a drop from 10,000 cholera cases to just 2 in 5 months. Pollet Water Group, and by extension Pollet Group, wants to help MSF scale up this project to new countries. Because of our key role in the provision of drinking water to sustainably control or prevent disease transmission, Pollet Water Group joins forces and becomes a philanthropic partner of Médecins Sans Frontières. Pallas PFAS Filter Cartridge

7/3/2022

Pallas PFAS Filter Cartridge
Single Point of Use Domestic Water Filtration

Is the tap water in our European countries safe? Definitely! The European Drinking Water Directive provides clear guidelines and monitors the quality of our drinking water. Yet we see the demand for Point-of-Use (POU) solutions increasing. Events like Corona, PFAS pollution, microplastics in our waters... ensure that the population is more aware of how they use their drinking water. A good evolution that keeps us all on our toes.

Perfecting water!
As Pollet Water Group, together with our customers and partners, we are in the front row when it comes to detecting trends, new technologies and the continuous improvement of water treatment. It all comes to perfecting water! As an example, we saw an increase in demand for single-point-of-use cartridge filters within the domestic segment. PFAS contamination dominated the Belgian news for months, but is known across the continent. The production and use of PFAS in products has resulted in the contamination of drinking water supplies in several European countries. Do not be mistaken: it remains healthy to drink tap water. There are very low levels of PFAS in tap water and it can be filtered out. But the specific cartridges further reduce that concentration of PFAS.

What is PFAS?
PFAS is the collective name for more than 4700 chemical substances that include a combination of fluorine compounds and alkyl groups. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) substances are resistant to high temperatures and are water, dirt and grease repellent. They are therefore widely used in industrial applications and consumer products. The new European Drinking Water Directive (EU 2020/2184) includes PFAS as a 'new' drinking water parameter. The European standard for the 20 most relevant individual PFAS-20 is 100 nanograms per litre (ng/l). The water companies continue the measurement efforts in a targeted manner and map out the options for reducing the concentrations or at least not allowing them to increase.

Pallas Domestic PFAS-filter.
Let’s Make Water Count

The Pallas Water filter by PWG, is part of a wide range of domestic POU cartridges. This specific one reduces the concentration of PFAS. Our passion for water resulted in this high-end single point-of-use filter cartridge. It’s an easy to install filter cartridge that is used for drinking water with a maximum of 500 ng/l concentration and comes in a medium and large size. In addition it also removes odours, off-tastes, guarantees a bacteriostatic action and reduces chlorine. It’s recommended to replace the cartridge at the end of its nominal range, or if the output flow is too slow. However the cartridge must be replaced within 365 days from its installation to prevent future pollution.

Picture
The possibility of having an extra filter for PFAS at the domestic level, opens opportunities. It fits in our philosophy to ‘make water count’ while caring for the health of all citizens and encouraging innovation for safer chemicals!

Pollet Water Group investigates green hydrogen production at sea

5/1/2022

Hydrogen is the element of the future in a crucial role for the green energy transition. As an energy carrier hydrogen can store energy excesses from offshore wind parks. Making hydrogen production feasible at sea is a key innovation in this. The INTENSSE-H2 project will study the feasibility of an innovative concept where water desalination AND hydrogen production through electrolysis will be integrated in a 1-step solution. This one year project officially started November 1th 2021.
Picture
Green hydrogen production through electrolysis needs fresh (ultrapure) water, energy (electricity) and high pressure. Water scarcity will cause competition for fresh water in the future and thus it makes sense to use seawater as a direct water source for hydrogen production. The INTENSSE-H2 project investigates a concept for integrated make-up water treatment and electrolysis.
In stead of treating seawater with UF and RO to purify it the electrolyte in the process can be used as a draw solution to desalinate the sea water through a specific type of membrane.
Before developing the proof of concept which can induce the industrialisation of the concept the project team will investigate the feasibility of the concept. The central challenges are:
  • The availability of commercialised alkali resistant, selective and good performing membranes for the application (fluxes)
  • The effectivity of the hydrogen production and water treatment process at an offshore location on board of a moving platform that is exposed to heavy wind and tides.
  • The identification of a valuable supply chain in Flanders or Europe.
  • Techo-economical assesment of the membranes and the concept.
  • Footprint of the assembled concept to estimate the right dimensions and loading capacity of the offshore platform.

A feasible INTENSSE-H2 concept can be of great value for the Green Hydrogen Economy: 1) lower capex and opex compared to state of the art ultrapure water treatment, 2) energy savings (low pressure), 3) smaller footprint = lower capex for floating platform, 4) higher flexibility for offshore applications.
