PFAS, LET'S ACT NOW

​PFAS pollution is rightly receiving increasing attention.  PFAS is the collective name for thousands of chemical compounds that are not or hardly degradable in nature and accumulate in the body. High concentrations can be harmful to health. No one is immune to exposure, and action is needed to phase out harmful chemicals such as PFAS. In Belgium, at the request of Bond Beter Leefmilieu, eight politicians had themselves tested for the presence of PFAS in their blood. The trigger was the heavy PFAS contamination at 3M in Zwijndrecht (Antwerp). 

The 8 politicians live scattered in Belgium and in each politician, regardless of place of residence or lifestyle, at least 3 of the 13 PFAS substances tested were found in the blood, with outliers of up to 6 substances. Read the article here (NL)
